Why Be Obedient?

"If ye love me keep my commandments"
was the words of Christ himself.

A reason we are on the earth is to show our willingness to obey our loving Heavenly Father.
Commandments and obedience are not here to hold us back from experienceing the world.  Heavenly Father knows us better than we do.  His commandments help us to live in the happiest state we can here and now.
Mosiah 2:41
"And moreover, I would desire that ye
should consider on the blessed and ahappy state
of those that keep the commandments of God.
For behold, they are blessed in all things,
both temporal and spiritual..."

But, "There is a law..., upon which ALL blessings are predicated-
When we obtain any blessing from God,
it is by obedience to that law upon which it is predicated."  D&C 130:22

So any and all blessings we recieve are given because we were obedient to our loving Heavenly Father.  Heavenly Father wants to bless us.  It brings him great joy and happiness to provide us with blessings.  He is waiting for us to be obedient to the things he has asked so he can bless us.

Obedience should never look like a hold up or something that is not fun.  Obedience is not something we owe to God, or he makes us.  It is how we show our appreciation to Him for all that he has given and done for us!

John 8:32
"And ye shall aknow the btruth, and the ctruth shall make you FREE"

"Grace Shall be as your day"

There are many things in this life that are going to be hard.  But it is through the Grace of the Atonement of Jesus Christ that will help us to make it through the trials.  The pioneers were helped greatly through the Grace of the Atonement.  One of my favorite paintings is this one.  The pioneers had help to over come all the things that they were asked to go through.

"The task ahead of them was never as great as the power behind them."  Elder Dallin H. Oaks

Just like it is through our lives, the task ahead of us in life is never greater than the power that is behind us.  That power comes through the Atonement of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

The pioneers wrote a song titled "Come, Come ye saints."  One of the versus says

"Come, Come ye saints,
No toil nor labor fear;
But with joy, wend your way.
Though hard to you this journey may appear,
Grace shall be as your day"

Bro. Brad Wilcox stated:
"Grace shall be AS your day.
No matter how dark our trials,
sins, or struggles get, Grace is like your day.
The light to help you through the dark tunnel."

It is through the grace of God that we can be strengthened through any trial that we are faced with in this life.  The grace of God can become a light to us through dark times in our lives.  We can call upon the strength of God when we need to be lifted and encouraged to move on through the power and blessing of prayer!
